Config Notes
** 2.10 (Install test) ** ATI Mobility Radeon X2300 graphics not detected during install. Went to ATI website, but Mobility Radeon section only goes up to X1800. Selected X1800, which points to "ATI Proprietary Linux x86 Display Driver 8.37.6." [drivers and software (find a driver) --> linux x86 / Mobility Radeon / Mobility Radeon X1800] [http://ati.amd.com/support/drivers/linux/linux-radeon.html]. Follow instructions at http://en.opensuse.org/Howto/ATI_Driver#Installation_-_Get_and_Install_ATI_Drivers (for SLED10-IA32). ** 2.14.3 (Suspend to disk) ** Hotkey (fn+f3) not supported, but "powersave -U" and [system tray power icon -> hibernate] both work. ** 2.15.3 (Suspend to RAM) ** Hotkey (fn+f3) not supported, but "powersave -u" and [system tray power icon -> Sleep] both work after setting /etc/powersave/sleep: SUSPEND2RAM_FORCE:"yes" ** 2.18.1 (Video Test) ** Connecting external monitor required a reboot while the monitor was connected. Using hotkey (fn+f4) did not cycle through modes (external, internal, dual), it only refreshed the external monitor. ** 2.19 (Desktop Effects) ** The Activate 3D Acceleration box was greyed out but checked. Enable Desktop Effects button was not shown in Look and Feel section because 3D Acceleration was showing Disabled. Found instructions at http://en.opensuse.org/Using_Xgl_on_SUSE_Linux to set 3D Acceleration to Enabled by holding shift key and double clicking on Disabled next to 3D Acceleration. Click Enable Desktop Effects button then restart system. ** 2.19 -> 2.14.3 (Suspend to Disk with Desktop Effects) ** Similar result as previous test (without Desktop Effects): "powersave -U" works, but system tray power icon no longer shows Hibernate selection. ** 2.19 -> 2.15.3 (Suspend to RAM) ** Similar result as previous test (without Desktop Effects): "powersave -u" works, but system tray power icon no longer shows Sleep selection. ** 2.19 -> 2.18 (Video test) ** Same result as previous test (without Desktop Effects): restart was required to activate external monitor, and hotkey (fn+f4) only refreshed external monitor instead of cycling through internal/external/dual modes. ** 2.21.5 (Overnight USB Stress Test Setup) ** Kept having problems trying to partition & format USB hard drives. It was necessary to disable auto-mounting because the system kept trying to automount in the middle of partitioning & formatting. Control Center / Removable Drives and Media: "Mount removable drives when hot-plugged" (uncheck). Then turn it back on after partitioning & formatting.
