Product Description
The PRIMEQUEST 500 series are best choices for enterprises that are looking for a mission critical Intel® Itanium® 2 based Linux or Windows platform to provide highest availability, robust performance and enhanced flexibility plus optimum resource usage. Typical application areas for PRIMEQUEST servers include medium to largest-scale database systems and online transaction processing (OLTP) environments that require a fail-safe mission critical platform with flexibility for future growth. PRIMEQUEST models offer flexible and scalable configuration capabilities for up to 32 Dual-Core processors and belonging I/O resources in a 19” rack mounted chassis (model 520) or in space-saving system cabinets. Automatic reconfiguration and flexible partitioning with up to 16 fail-safe, hardware isolated partitions using eXtended PARtitioning (XPAR1) provide optimum resource usage with multiple OS instances. The advanced system architecture incorporates two innovative key technologies that provide highest availability in a single system: Mirror Mode and Flexible I/O (FIO). With Mirror Mode, crossbar interconnects and memory modules can operate in duplex mode to isolate faults without causing a system halt, i.e. not influencing the IT production. FIO allows on demand reallocation of I/O resources to specific processing resources, which enables I/O to match throughput and performance requirements. High performance and reliability of the Intel® Itanium® 2 9000 series processors, large main memory capacities up to 2 Tbyte2, high speed crossbar interconnect (up to 136 Gbyte/s throughput) and low memory latencies satisfy huge system and application bandwidth demands.
