Product Description
Managed Server HSM provides a cost-effective solution for managing growing storage requirements in NetWare environments. The software reduces IT overhead and provides lower TCO by relocating seldom accessed files from high-performance disk to lower-cost storage pools, including disk, tape or optical libraries, and EMC Centera. Managed Server HSM accomplishes lifecycle management as a cluster-enabled, server-based background task, optimizing the usage of NetWare storage resources. By constantly differentiating among routinely accessed "production" files, infrequently accessed "reference" files, and files which have reached their "end of useful life", the software selects appropriate candidates to be migrated or deleted when established criteria have been met. Managed Server HSM provides system administrators with a powerful storage management solution that: controls file retention and deletion decisions based on structured criteria; manages data migration per watermarks and in desired operational timeframes; reclaims storage space and optimizes growth of costly storage resources; reduces the amount of time needed for backup and recovery
