According to Pat Campbell, the Novell Software Engineer who developed VNC for NetWare,
An announcement regarding the availability of a VNC Server for NetWare was posted on the VNC-Announce mailing list server (administered by realvnc) on Fri Aug 8.
See here for the text of the announcement:
[VNC-Announce] VNC server available for NetWare http://www.realvnc.com/pipermail/vnc-announce/2003/000046.html
RealVNC, the official home of VNC, have also created a new Resources Page, with a link to the Novell Forge website:
RealVNC - VNC Resources http://www.realvnc.com/resources.html#novell
Please take these brief surveys to help us determine what other platforms you?re using VNC on, and whether you?re interested in a port of VNC for NetWare that supports older versions of NetWare (5.x, 4.x, maybe even 3.x ?).
Take the surveys here:
Novell Forge Surveys - VNC for NetWare http://forge.novell.com/modules/xfmod/survey/?group_id=1274
If you are interested in contributing to the VNC for NetWare project (VNC Server NLM for NetWare) as a developer, the source code has now been included in the Novell Forge CVS Repository at:
http://forge.novell.com/modules/xfmod/cvs/cvspage.php/vncnw/
(CVS is the Concurrent Versions System, the dominant open-source network-transparent version control system. You can find out more about CVS at http://www.cvshome.org/.)
Here's the "press release" (note the quotation marks) I've been sending to everyone I think might be interested in this project. Please feel free to copy and paste it to any location where NetWare administrators/VNC users hang out.

Hi,
I just wanted to make you aware that a VNC Server NLM for Netware is now available from Novell Forge. I believe this will be of great interest to those who, until now, have utilized VNC for remote control of Linux/UNIX and Windows hosts, but have relied on other utilities to manage their NetWare Servers. Now, using the VNC Server NLM for Netware, it has become possible to use the same interface to remotely manage your NetWare, Linux/UNIX and Windows servers.
The VNC for NetWare project home page (VNC Server NLM for Netware) can be found here:
Novell Forge Summary - VNC for NetWare http://forge.novell.com/modules/xfmod/project/?vncnw
The files (binaries and source) can be downloaded here:
Novell Forge Files - VNC for NetWare http://forge.novell.com/modules/xfmod/project/showfiles.php?group_id=1274
Although the project has only been public for a few days, enhancement requests have already been received, so the participation of developers would also be welcomed!
Your assistance in bringing this project to the attention of the VNC "community" would be greatly appreciated.
Kind regards,
Russell Cohen Project Admin., VNC for NetWare

When I first started thinking how ?nice? it would be to be able to remotely administer all O/S platforms using a single utility, I found that the idea was far from being original. There has long been an ?undercurrent? of demand for a VNC Server for NetWare, but the idea has never come to fruition. I hope it will be different this time!
