Universal Component System

Universal Component System (UCS) allows you to use objects of various object environments from scripting engines on the NetWare® platform. This means that Universal Component eXtensions (UCX), Java* classes, JavaBeans, and (remote) ActiveX* controls can be used with Novell Script for NetWare(NSN) or Perl.

UCS also contains the entire set of UCX components (which are available with Novell Script for NetWare) as well as the Java Extension for UCS (Java2UCS).

  • Novell JVM for NetWare 1.3.1 or later versions
  • A 32-bit operating system that supports Windows* 95 compatible long file names
  • NetWare 5.1 or later
