Why this project?
This project gives comprehensive solutions to all-day problems in XSL-FO in a good-looking, readable book. You can search the Internet to find solutions to your problems, however you have to use different sources to get answers. This book collects them and presents them in a brief problem-solution oriented way.
What are the contents?
It will cover how to create page layouts, lists, tables, inline formatting and lots of other things. It will also cover topics on good typography as this lacks all documentation about XSL-FO, unfortunatly.
Why a Book? Why not a Wiki?
Although Wikis are good at collaboration, ease of use and dynamic editing, in my humble opinion it lacks of the overall picture and tend to have isolated islands of information. Apart from this, the project is about XSL-FO and why not apply its technology to produce a good-looking book?
Why in DocBook?
Because it is a standard in regards to documentation and it has excellent support already for XSL-FO to create nice and shiny PDFs.
