ABSTRACT:

WebChat is a Java applet/application for holding a chat session through a web page. WebChat consists of a client applet/application class and two application server classes. The server classes run on an IntranetWare server.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

The files stored in the following directories: WebChatServer.class - Server classes directory (SYS:JAVACLASSES) WebChatClient.class - Server classes directory WebChatApplet.class - Web docs directory (SYS:WEBDOCS) WebChat.htm - Web docs directory MainFrame.class - Web docs directory

The WebChat server should be started first. Load Java onto the IntranetWare server by typing: LOAD JAVA The start the server application using the new screen option -ns: JAVA -ns WebChatServer

The client can be executed as either a web page applet or as a standalone application. To run as a web page use the page WebChat.htm. To run standalone give the IP address of the server: JAVA WebChatApplet 164.99.13.48

These classes are built using JDK1.1. You need to use a browser that runs JDK1.1 classes to use the web page, however none are currently available. The class WebChatAppletDeprecated.class uses the older 1.0.2 classes so that it can be used in web browsers. The class WebChatApplet.class uses only 1.1 classes.
