NWCommitFile is an undocumented function not available to most Client kits. However, NEST does document it and can make code available (NESTsupt@Novell.com) to use the call. There are drawbacks.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

NWCommitFile is an undocumented function not available to most Client platforms. However, NEST does document it and can make code available (NESTsupt@Novell.com) to use the call. As the function is quite slow, commit request and reply can take 20-30 msec., you may want to consider alternatives instead, in addition, it is a rarely used Server function.

NWCommitFile flushes buffers and forces a write despite whatever cache system setup says. It provides a way for another process to see the size of a file before it's write is completed.
