This file addresses known issues with the following files:
A3112 NLM 16,446 10-31-95 8:26a AFTER311 NLM 14,952 10-31-95 8:25a
These files are currently (11-25-96) suitable for NetWare 3.x servers. (There are newer versions of these files for NW 4.x which are not suitable for the NW 3.x platform).
The listed files have a known issue on the NW 3.x platform as listed below:
NLM applications which implement NWSNUT.NLM functions may cause NetWare to generate console messages similar to the following (when the NLM application is loaded):
[Date] [Time]: 1.1.38 Cache memory allocator exceeded minimum cache buffer left limit. [Date] [Time]: 1.1.131 Semi-permanent memory allocator is out of memory 1 simi-permanent memory allocation requests failed
These errors are cosmetic. The NLM should still load and function normally.
The errors are generated when the NWSNUT application has not been linked with a default .MSG file (even if no .MSG file is needed).
Specifically, these messages are generated due to code in AFTER311.NLM (and A3112.NLM). The faulty code miscalculates the size of the block of memory used in which a .MSG file will be placed. The mis-calculation only occurs when the .MSG file length is equal to zero (ie: no message file).
Novell is currently researching this issue and plans to enhance the above listed files. No other patch is currently available.
