SUSE Linux Enterprise 11 SDK Release

SUSE Linux Enterprise Software Development Kit 11 is a comprehensive development tool kit that is designed to support developers, as well as independent hardware vendors (IHVs) and independent software vendors (ISVs), in creating applications on or porting them to SUSE Linux Enterprise 11 products.

SUSE Linux Enterprise 10 SP2 SDK

To download the SUSE Linux Enterprise 10 SP2 SDK go here and download the appropriate ISOs for you platform.

SUSE Linux Enterprise 10 SP1 SDK

To download the SUSE Linux Enterprise 10 SP1 SDK do the following:

  1. Go to http://download.novell.com
  2. Select "SUSE Linux Enterprise Server" in the first drop down.
  3. Select ""SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 SP1" in the second drop down.
  4. Enter "SDK" in the keyword box.
  5. Click the Search button.
  6. The link to the SUSE Linux Enterprise 10 SP1 SDK will appear in the search results window.

You can use the following steps to download the SUSE Linux Enterprise 10 SDK Release

  1. Go to http://download.novell.com
  2. Select "SUSE Linux Enterprise 10 Software Development Kit" in the first drop down.

  4. The link to the SLES 10 SDK will appear in the search results window.




SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9 SDK Service Pack 2 Release

This SDK supports application development for SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server (SLES) 9 (both Service Pack 2 and 3). To provide you a comprehensive build system, this SDK includes all the open source tools that were used to build the SLES product. It provides you, as a developer, ISV, or IHV, all the tools you need to port applications to all of the platforms supported by SLES.

The SDK also contains IDEs, debuggers, code editors, and other related tools. It supports most major programming languages (including C, C++, Java, and most scripting languages).

For your convenience, the SDK includes multiple YAST and Perl packages that are not included in SLES.

SUSE LINUX SDK 9 requires SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server 9. Learn more about SLES 9 including how to get your evaluation copy today.

Please Note

If you plan to develop for SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9 (SLES 9), Novell strongly recommends to use the SLES 9 SDK. If you plan to develop for Novell Linux Desktop 9 (NLD 9), we recommend that you use the NLD 9 SDK. Both SDKs offer the same development tools and you should, whenever possible, build your application on the platform you're targeting, using the appropriate SDK.

Installation: Gain access to the SDK directly with 'YaST'

Adding 'https' installation source in 'YaST' to download and install binaries for each platform without downloading the iso image:

  • Login as 'root'.
  • Open a terminal window.
  • Use the following command: 
  /usr/bin/installation_sources -a https://you.novell.com/sdk/sles9-sdk-sp2/CDs/{ARCHITECTURE}/CD1/

{ARCHITECTURE} is to be replaced by one of the following expression according to the platform you are running:

PLATFORM:{ARCHITECTURE}
* x86 (i386) SLES-9-SDK-SP-2-i386-RC3
* AMD64/Intel EM64T (x86-64) SLES-9-SDK-SP-2-x86-64-RC3
* Intel Itanium(R) Processor Family (ia64) SLES-9-SDK-SP-2-ia64-RC3
* IBM POWER (ppc) SLES-9-SDK-SP-2-ppc-RC3

  • After submitting the command successfully the following message will be shown: 
        Installation Sources:
        SLES SDK Version 9-SP2 (https://you.novell.com/sdk/sles9-sdk-sp2/CDs/SLES-9-SDK-SP-2-i386-RC3/CD1/)

Note: Adding the SDK installation source using YaST -> "Software" -> "Change Source of Installation" will not work. Please use the command above to add the SDK installation source and then use YaST to view and install the SDK packages.
