NOWS SBE has all the relevant technologies that a small business needs. It discards high-end NOWS pieces, because they are useless to a small business and too complex to justify installation. Instead, NOWS SBE integrates all its applications with an easy-to-use installer, thereby simplifying management. Most of the technology's complexity is hidden, although an end user can dig deeper if he or she wants. Simplification does not mean that we want to prevent any customizations or limit functionality in any way. We encourage administrators who are comfortable with the underlying technologies to go behind the scenes and do whatever they need to do with it.
NOWS SBE Component API Guide walks readers through the process of adding a new installable component to the Novell Open Workgroup Suite Small Business Edition (NOWS SBE) framework. Use these guidelines to build simplified installers of your Linux server software. Independent Software Vendors (ISV), system administrators, and small business integrators are encouraged to package additional software products into the NOWS SBE offering in order to increase product distribution, add convenience, and provide value-added services.
