Ldappy is a Java-based application with GUI that lets you create and delete users and contexts in massive quantities via LDAP. It also has a feature that allows you to run SQL queries to your LDAP directory and view the results in text format. More features will need to be added. But in the end, hopefully this is the only tool you'll ever need to populate your tree without generating LDIF files.
