Our August feature story is about the new Novell Forge website and how it can become a powerful tool for your development projects. In addition to the Novell Forge article we also cover Sun's recent OpenJDK announcements, news from openSUSE and information regarding our new Developer-focused Blogs at the Cool Blogs site.
An updated and revamped Novell Forge is now available (in beta currently) at http://developer.novell.com/forge for you to begin using. Many of Novell's solutions now require customization to implement (vs ready-to-deploy shrink-wrap software). This customization often implies a prolonged sales cycle where the bottleneck is the implementation phase or due to a lack of specific components required to fill-out the solution. By collecting and organizing all policies, configurations (i.e. discrete solutions) into a "Collaborative Policy Forge" environment we are set-up to reap the following benefits:
1. Decreased Sales Cycle 2. New channels of business 3. New Solution offerings
