Avalon

From Developer Community

The Avalon project strives to provide a personal firewall for Linux Desktops. It allows a user to control security events like application starts, application replacements, outgoing traffic, and incoming traffic.

Avalon uses the Linux Security Modules (LSM) framework of the 2.6 kernel series. The personal firewall consists of three components:

  1. Kernel module
  2. Root daemon
  3. GUI

Currently, this project is in an early development stage. The use in a production environment is not encouraged yet. Nevertheless, everybody is invited to test and to give feedback (see below for links to the development mailing list and to Bugzilla). If you would like to participate in the development of this project, then do not hesitate to contact me via email.
