During this the first procedure in Phase-2, you will
configure your client platform for network connections to your target test
directory.
For information about C NDAP connections, refer to How Clients
Connect to C NDAP Services for NDS
- Make sure that the appropriate NetWare 5 client is installed on your
client machine.
- In order to obtain access to make changes to the directory, you will need
an authenticated connection to a User object in the test tree that has been
made a trustee for what you intend to do. Set up the necessary trustee
relationships between your User object in the test tree and the objects in the
test tree that you wish to operate upon. You may need the NWAdmin tool to help
you create a User objects for your server in the following procedure.
Nwadmn32.exe and all necessary C NDAP extensions can be found on your NetWare 5
server in public\win32\
- For information about how to set up a trustee relationship between your
User object and the object/s you wish to operate upon, refer to "Adding
your login user object as a trustee to a target object".
- Test your ability to log in to your test tree through the User object you
have set up, by logging in with the Novell Login Utility. If you can log in
with the utility, the applications you write should be able to log in as well.
