Novell UDDI Server Overview

Novell UDDI Server adds secure identity management capability to the UDDI standard, increasing security and manageability of Web services registries. Novell Nsure UDDI Server for NetWare allows businesses to register Web services and make them available to internal or external users. It leverages the security and management inherent in eDirectory and requires users (whether publishing or consuming services) to first authenticate to the directory and verify their identity. Equally important, those users, their access rights, and the registered Web services can be easily managed with eDirectory tools like Novell iManager, which are familiar to most network administrators.

With Novell's UDDI Server there are several things that you can do. Some include:

  • Publish and locate internal business applications in a secure, private environment.

  • Integrate enterprise web portals with exteNd Director.

  • Use eDirectory as a basis for authentication and access control of Web Services.

Novell's UDDI Server will run on the following platforms:

  • NetWare

  • Windows

  • Linux

  • Solaris

  • AIX

Software Requirements for the UDDI Server

You must have the following software components installed prior to installing the UDDI server:

  • JVM 1.4

  • Tomcat 4.x

  • Apache 1.3.26 or above (If using the Apache-Tomcat combination).

  • Novell eDirectory 8.7 running on the same server.

  • Novell iManager 1.5

  • Novell iManager 2.0 on NetWare

  • Internet Explorer 5.5 SP2
