Secure Login

Novell SecureLogin is a directory-integrated authentication solution that delivers reliable, single sign-on access across your multi-platform network. SecureLogin simplifies password management by eliminating the need for you to remember more than one password. This means that once you have officially logged into the network, SecureLogin automatically authenticates you to any applications and data that you use during your network session. SecureLogin delivers single sign-on functionality to virtually every application and environment, including the following:

  • Windows 32-bit applications

  • Citrix and Telnet environments

  • E-mail clients, including Novell GroupWise, Lotus Notes, and Microsoft Outlook

  • IBM and Unix mainframe applications

  • More than 30 terminal emulators, including Attachmate Extra, Eicon Aviva, and IBM Personal Communications

  • Web sites accessed via Microsoft Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator

Because SecureLogin is tightly integrated with eDirectory you can swiftly access critical business tools from any computer on the company network. For example, during your visit to a branch office in London, SecureLogin enables you to enjoy the same single sign-on access to applications and data that you would have access to if you were back at your office in New York. SecureLogin provides single sign-on capabilities to your non-proprietary systems by supporting all directories that are 100-percent compliant with Lightweight Directory Access Protocol version 3 (LDAP v3).

To enhance network security, SecureLogin supports 168-bit triple DES encryption. In addition, SecureLogin's integration with eDirectory enables SecureLogin to support Novell SecretStore, a patented Novell repository located within individual eDirectory user objects. Working with eDirectory, SecureLogin stores all of an individual user's application passwords and authentication credentials within that individual's SecretStore. This storage method is more secure than traditional single sign-on methods that group all user passwords in a single vault.

Finally, eDirectory integration enables you to easily manage SecureLogin using ConsoleOne. If your network is based on an LDAP v3-compliant directory other than eDirectory, SecureLogin can be managed with Script Editor. Both ConsoleOne and Script Editor allow your administrators to control client and server settings, define applications and set password policies from a central location.
