| Course Description
|
This course takes you through the process of creating a NPS gadget, including all the
background NPS information needed. The course also discusses NPS, what it is, and what
it can do for you and your enterprise.

| Objective
|
At the conclusion of this course, you should have a better understanding of NPS. You
should also understand NPS gadgets well enough to program one yourself.
|
| Estimated time to complete this course
|
To completely work through every module of this course, including the labs, will take
about 32 hours of sustained effort. Some people, depending on their technical proficiency,
will take less time. Other may need more time.

| Prerequisites
|
- Ability to read simple XML, XSLT and HTML documents
- Intermediate Java programming skills
- Intermediate NDS eDiectory administration skills

|
A Windows NT/2000/XP workstation. You will be installing the following:
- NDS eDirectory
- Sun J2SE
- Apache HTTP Server
- Apache Tomcat
- Apache Tomcat Redirector
- Novell Portal Services

| Development Environment
|
The procedures in this class were tested using a 800 MHZ Pentium-based workstation
with 512 MB RAM, running Windows 2000, SP3 or higher. Also JVM v1.4 or higher and
either Internet Explorer 6 or Netscape 7 or later versions of either browser.
