For partners to qualify to conduct YES certification self testing — in addition to membership in PartnerNet for Technology Partners — the following training, operational, and lab requirements must be met.
Training Requirements
In order to ensure efficient and effective certification processes, Novell requires its partners, who wish to self test their products for YES CERTIFIED status, as well as its NATCs who wish to provide such certification services, to undergo annual Novell certification training.
The amount and nature of the training depends upon the product requiring YES certification. The amount of training is identified below, according to product type:
- Systems - online training
- LAN - 2 days
- Storage - 2 days
- Printers/print servers (not including gateways) - 2 days
- Backup - 2 days (partners providing backup solutions must also complete the software training as listed below.)
- Software on NetWare - 2 days
- Software on SUSE Linux Enterprise - no training required
Provide Designated Company Contact
The partner's Designated Company Contact must work closely with the Novell Enablement Manager and assigned Novell engineer to inform them of the Partner’s current projects and priorities. To allow Novell to better meet time-critical needs, the Designated Company Contact will be responsible for managing the partner's matters entrusted to the Enablement Manager/Engineer to prevent delays due to excessive demands or demands that are in conflict with or contrary to other demands made by the partner.
The Designated Company Contact must:
- Provide product support to the Enablement Manager and Novell engineer.
- Be available for on-site debugging support to resolve testing and compatibility issues.
- Coordinate with the Enablement Manager/Engineer for submission of test results from testing of Developed Products at their site.
- Interact with the Enablement Manager/Engineer for resolving mutual compatibility and certification issues.
- Participate in annual YES Program update training as required by Novell for self testing authorization.
